Sales and Marketing Operations Intern

www.esosolutions.com

WHAT I LEARNED

I am one of the few interns at ESO Solutions and because of this I am able to work across multiple departments. I work on projects in finance, sales, marketing, and operations. I learn everything from phone etiquette to the best ways to put myself "out there" to determining how to analyze customers wants and needs. I have realized a friendly and inviting work culture is important in my career and that I need variety in my work to keep me engaged.

WHAT I DO

  • Conducted market and sales research and discovered over $500,000 in lost revenue due to lacking software features

  • Assist in managing company Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter by researching interesting articles to post 2x a day to attract customers

  • Collaborate with teams to brainstorm new marketing strategies and assist in planning our annual user conference

  • Review and Edit RFPs for each sales representative and follow up with any leads that have not yet been touched

  • Created and managed a social media campaign called Fun Fact Friday to engage 2,000+  customers and attract leads

  • Edited over 5 email campaigns using HTML to send out to customers

ARCHON 3D SERVICES

Metrology Software Sales - TouchPortable Software

January 2014 - August 2014

Software Sales Intern

www.archon3dservices.com

WHAT I LEARNED

First off, I learned an industry for industrial measuring existed and companies referred to this science as Metrology. I was able to build up my confidence and "thick-skin" in a primarily a male industry by cold-calling intelligent engineers and surveying them about their software. Archon 3D Services was in it's early startup stages thus I was able to receive hands-on experience from the CEO. I visited trade shows to learn more about industrial measuring, designed and created email campaigns, and was able to suggest and implement my own ideas.

WHAT I DID

  • Created inbound marketing tactics such as a Facebook business page, online training videos, Web demos, email campaigns, and conducted a study of SEO results to help grow business by 10% in the course of 6 months

  • Managed and developed an email campaign sent to 200+ prospects to promote software and better understand market need

  • Aided in product development by conducting market research via surveys and cold-calling 50+ prospects daily

  • Managed a database with 10,000+ contacts to organize and initiate lead generation and acted as first point of contact

EARTHCOLOR

EMS Healthcare Software

August 2014 - Present

Sales and Marketing Operations Intern

www.earthcolor.com

WHAT I LEARNED

This was my first taste of the sales industry. I interned for a remote sales representative and realized some of the qualities it takes to be a good sales representative. I learned self motivation and flexibility are both very important when it comes to the industry. My supervisor would have to be exceptionally self motivated since he wasn't working around people in an office and flexible with his schedule to fit his clients needs. I am an exceptionally self motivated person and so naturally this internship sparked my interest in sales.

WHAT I DID

  • Helped generate $210,000 in new sales as part of a 6-month team competition to grow outside markets

  • Prospected over 20 potential clients daily to generate new leads while averaging a 9.4% response rate per week

  • Assisted in implementing a new intern training program to increase lead generation to an 11.6% response rate

SCOTTISH RITE DORMITORY

August 2013 - May 2014

Resident's Assistant

www.srd.org

WHAT I LEARNED

This was my first job in college and might have been the hardest job I have had over the past few years. The Dormitory staff was exceptionally strict in the way they wanted a situation to be handled, therefore I had to adjust to their methods of communication and regulatory lifestyle. I had to watch over my residents and make sure they were taken care of at all times-- no matter what hour of the night. I learned how to be flexible in spite of frustration and how to deal with the pressure of being responsible for people other than yourself.

WHAT I DID

  • Advised and oversaw 40 + college freshmen on academic offerings, social events, and campus organizations

  • Improved communication between the dorm and incoming freshmen by providing informative tours 7x a week
